Afterschool Teen Movie With Snacks

Teens grade 6-12 are invited to come relax and enjoy free snacks in the Meeting Room while we show a hit movie!

Our movie licensing agreement does not allow us to reveal the movie via website, but feel free to call us or ask us in person during library hours to find out what we will be showing. Hint: it's the 2005 animated movie starring the voice talents of Johnny Depp, Emily Watson, and Helena Bonham Carter, in which a young man has to choose between two very different potential brides. This movie is rated PG.

Hint: included filmlets feature a bouncing sheep, a very enthusiastic and very large bird, and a small green monster with only one eye.

Hanafuda Na Pua Hawaii

Please join us to learn to play a Hawaiian version of Hanafuda, an ancient Japanese matching game using cards! Hanafuda is suitable for all ages and perfect for bringing generations a little closer together. Author Helen Nakano and her group of sensei will share stories and instructions for this entertaining game. After the program, Hanafuda sets featuring native Hawaiian plants, birds, and ocean life will be available for purchase.

Paying For College Without Going Broke

Financial educators Nelson Secretario and Manuel Fabriquer will present a workshop for parents of freshman, sophomore, and junior high school students who are planning on attending four-year colleges or universities, on how to avoid common mistakes and obtain financial aid.

DIY Tote Bag Craft Program

Make your own reusable tote bag from a spare t-shirt in this free make-and-take class led by volunteers from TeenLink Hawaii! All craft materials will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own t-shirts if they prefer. Recommended for teens (age 11+) and adults.
