Master taiko drummer Kenny Endo and his Taiko Center of the Pacific ensemble will demonstrate and discuss taiko in group and festival drumming. Learn about the different drums and  percussion instruments of Japan as used in traditional and contemporary music. Kenny Endo and his ensemble have performed extensively all over the United States and throughout the world. This 45-minute program is recommended for ages 5 and older. Young children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

The cultural program will demonstrate taiko in group and festival drumming. Tako master Kenny Endo composes his own music and plays taiko professionally as a solo artist, with his ensembles, and in collaboration with other artists. Mr. Endo and his taiko ensembles have performed extensively all over the United States, Japan, and throughout the world. This one-hour program is suitable for all ages. Ensemble members are internationally based and have performed throughout the United States as well as in Europe and Japan. This 45-minute program is recommended for ages 5 and older. In celebration of National library Week 2009, Aina Haina is proud to present The Art of Taiko, an all-ages cultural featuring a demonstartion and lecture on the art of performing with taiko (Japanese drums).  Kenny Endo is a performer, composer, and leader of contemporary taiko.  He began his taiko career over 30 years ago as a member of Kinnara Taiko and San Francisco Taiko Dojo.
