Lean which native plants will thrive in your area and where to get them!

About 90% of our native plants are found nowhere else in the world and are some of the most endangered. On top of requiring less water and lower maintenance, Hawaii's native plants foster an understanding, appreciation, and respect for Hawaiian history and culture.

Join us as Shari Y. Tamashiro teaches us how to use Native Plants Hawaii, a searchable online database, as a resource for home growers and anyone interested in plants or Hawaiiana. David Eickhoff will talk about the benefits of planting native species and how to go about cultivating your own garden.

Presenter Shari Y. Tamashiro is Project Manager for Native Plants Hawaii (http://native plants.hawaii.edu) and Cybrarian for Kapiolani Community College.

Presenter David Eickhoff is a Native Plant Specialist for Leeward Community College. During his 30 years of working with native Hawaiian plants, he has propagated and grown over 300 species.
