Spring Wind Quintet: Chamber Music of Hawaii Concert

The Spring Wind Quintet, recognized as one of the country's leading woodwind quintets, has been a major force in the development of chamber music in Hawaii. Many new works have been composed and arranged especially for the Spring Wind Quintet. The group has an extensive and varied repertoire earning several national grants and offers educational programs for all ages.

Flutist Karla Myers is currently a full-time member of the Royal Hawaiian Band and has played numerous times with the Honolulu Symphony.  She has also been a member of the Sacramento, Stockton and Camellia Symphonies in northern California. J. Scott Janusch, Principal Oboe of the Honolulu, San Antonio, San Diego and Santa Barbara Symphonies, has performed in numerous concertos and music festivals, as well as Ballet Hawaii and many faculty recitals at the University of Hawaii. James Moffitt, Associate Principal and Bass Clarinet with Honolulu Symphony since 1981, served as Acting Assistant Principal and E-Flat Clarinet with the St. Louis Symphony and performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Jonathan Parrish has been Assistant Principal Horn with the Honolulu Symphony since 1998 and has served as Acting Associate Principal and Acting Principal Horn. Marsha Schweitzer, Associate Principal Bassoon of the Honolulu Symphony, has been principal bassoonist of the Hawaii Chamber Orchestra, Hawaii Symphony, Maui Symphony and the Honolulu City Ballet Orchestra. She co-founded and served as the initial executive director of Chamber Music Hawaii.

This one-hour program is sponsored by the Friends of Aina Haina Library and is recommended for all ages.
