While you are visiting our Holiday Book Sale, don't miss the chance to attend this special concert by O'ahu Wind Quintet! The members of this versatile ensemble are Jonathan Higa Flute, Benjamin Peters, Oboe, Ronald Hirai, Clarinet, Thomas Edwards, Bassoon,  and Benjamin Gascon, French Horn.  Each member has been making music as a life-long commitment, performing, directing and teaching in Hawaii and on the Mainland.  These performers take part in other ensembles as well including: the O’ahu Civic Orchestra, O’ahu Chamber Orchestra, the Honolulu Community Concert Band, the Kamuela Philharmonic and Mango Season.

"Opalavision" Recycling Display

Now until the end of November, come and see this special audiovisual display provided by the City and County of Honolulu Recycling Project. Located near the inner entrance to the meeting room, the display features the new curbside recycling program and current episodes of The Green Channel's "Opalavision." In conjunction with the display, a selection of books on recycling have been donated by the City and County of Honolulu to the library and ready to be borrowed!

Friends of Aina Haina Library 5-Hour Holiday Book Sale

The Friends of Aina Haina Library will hold a Holiday Book Sale on Saturday, November 13, 2010.  The 5-hour sale will be from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

In the front of the library, holiday shoppers can find specially priced items such as gift quality books, collectibles, and DVDs.  In addition, the library’s Meeting Room will have a selection of books for children and adults, as well as CDs and VHS tapes for sale.  Prices will begin at $2.00 for hardcovers and $1.00 for softcover books.

Friends of the Aina Haina Library Used CD and Comic Book Sale

Come to this special sale on Saturday, September 25, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m! Daric and Friend will be making balloon animals for children to accompany the sale. Balloon making will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in the Children's area of the library (only one balloon animal per child, please). All proceeds from the CD and book sale go to support books and programs for the library. Mahalo to the Friends of the Aina Haina Library for sponsoring this event.

New Library Rules Take Effect

Public Libraries in Hawaii have begun implementing changes to the Hawaii State Public Library System’s Administrative Rules. The Board of Education (BOE) voted unanimously to approve these rule changes during their April 15, 2010 General Business Meeting. Among the major rule changes that will affect library customers are changes in overdue fines, DVD fines and library card replacement costs. Click here for more details.
