Steve Weeks' World of Music

Thursday, June 1, 2017 - 10:30am - 11:15am
Children's Area

Steve Weeks performs with both a boisterous sense of humor and a deep sense of purpose.  “We’re supposed to be entertaining and educating kids,” the Colorado-based singer-songwriter enthuses. “I am sincere about the music I write.  If it’s not coming from the heart or isn’t fun, I won’t write it.”

Preserving O'ahu Historical Tsunami Photos

Friday, May 12, 2017 - 12:00pm - 4:00pm
Meeting Room

Have you seen a tsunami photo in grandma's album, or a photo hanging on a wall in her living room? Did your father tell you where he was when the tsunami hit in 1945, 1952, 1957, 1960 and 1964? The Honolulu Department of Emergency Management (DEM), NOAA International Tsunami Information Center (ITIC), and Hawaii State Public Library System are partnering to preserve historic images and personal stories - they are important, but perishable, part of our tsunami heritage.

Residents willing to share images and stories with the O'ahu Historical Tsunami Photo Project are asked to bring them to a participating library. DEM and ITIC staff will scan and catalogue images. To view existing images or submit online, visit
